OFW househelp lotto winner cleared

A maid who won SGD 2.3 million (approximately P75.5 million)  in the Singapore Sweep in June has been cleared of allegations that she had stolen the winning ticket.

For the last three weeks, Ms. Len (not her real name) could not access her winnings as her bank account was frozen as a matter of procedure while the police did their investigations.

The police called Len on Thursday evening to tell her that her bank account is no longer frozen.

“I never stole the ticket,” said a relieved Len, 44, adding that she cooperated fully with the police.

After a report was lodged last month by an unidentified person claiming that the winning ticket was stolen, she complied with police requests to hand over details of her bank account. She also took them to the Tampines outlet where she bought the ticket.

When her account was frozen, it was difficult for Len to remit money back to the Philippines. “We live in the village and we are very poor. My family, and my old parents, are waiting for me to send money back for food and school expenses,” she said.

Over the past 14 years working for her current employer in Pasir Ris, she would keep $50 for her own expenses and send the rest of her salary to her husband and their two children.

The money also goes to her parents and her in-laws who are sick and have no money for treatment, added her employer, a 62-year-old customer service officer.

“It has been very frustrating for (Len),” said her employer, adding that Ms Len has always been honest during her employment.

Len has already transferred part of her winnings to her children and bought a plot of land in the Philippines. She plans to build a house on it for her children.

The mother of two will also give some money to her relatives and friends to help them out. The rest will be saved for her 22-year-old daughter and 23-year-old son’s future, she said. Meanwhile, she will continue to work for her employer.

“I did not steal (the ticket),” Len insisted.
“I am a very simple person and I don’t want any attention. I (just happened to) strike the lottery.”

Can You win the Lotto jackpot ?

This is a question most people ask frequently and quite curiously as each time somebody wins the lotto jackpot.

If he or she can, why can't I ?.

The Lotto bettors who have won the jackpot had the same chance of winning as we all do.

Its not about statistics or about the odds, its about LUCK.

There is a chance that anybody can win. So it could be anybody with a lotto ticket.

You have the same chance of winning as everyone else.

Although the odds in winning the jackpot are astronomically high.

I always have figured the odds of winning are actually 50-50. Either you win or lose.

Winning the lotto jackpot.

The fun in thinking about what would happen if our lotto numbers were drawn and we hit the lotto jackpot?

Winning a third Prize of P2,000 or a second prize of P150,000 is pretty exciting, but a P50 million or P100 million jackpot prize is pretty life changing.

But it also caused me to wonder how life would change. For the better, and perhaps, for the worse. Probably, any bad habits we had will seem to get much worse.

When money comes quickly, there is a tendency not to value it. Money that comes in easy will go away easy too.

Lotto Bettors

Lotto has driven some people to prayer and others to superstitious practices.

Feng shui expert even advised lotto bettors to wear their favorite shirts when they go to a lotto outlet to place there bets.

Some bettors pick numbers in random. Many rely on numbers that have significance in their lives—numbers related to their ages, birthdays and other important dates.

Others bet in thousands.
Others bet in hundreds.
Others pray harder these days.
Others don’t usually pray the rosary, but now they do, especially a few hours before they bet.

More people go to church on the day of the draw.
Bettors rub their tickets on the images of saints, hoping it would bring them good fortune.

A Religious lotto bettor says:
If God wants to make me a millionaire overnight, He’d give it to me even if I only have one bet.

Many lotto bettors have won the jackpot with only one bet and that has been proven many times.

Betting Percentage

Experts in the game of chance say winning the Ultra Lotto 6/58 is difficult because of the sheer number of combinations that bettors can choose from.

Out of the total possible 40,475,358 million combinations in a 6/58 game, bettors normally put money on only about 25 percent average of those combinations, according to authorities familiar with how the lottery works.

That means that 75 percent of the combinations do not have even a single bet on them.

It would take a person about P809,507,160 million to bet on all the possible combinations.

The sheer size of the odds is the main reason only a fraction of possible combinations is picked by bettors, leading to higher jackpots in the successive draws.

Try buying your lotto ticket in a different lotto outlet for change of luck.

How to win a lotto Jackpot

This is a question most people ask frequently and quite curiously as each time somebody wins the jackpot prize. If he or she can, why can't I? Everybody wants to know the strategy that person adopted or the way which made him select the numbers.

Search the internet for lotto formula and you will see hundreds or even thousands of answers, each of which will give you methods to select the numbers for the lotto.

Now think over this - if these methods or formula were true and if there was a sure-fire technique that would win you the lotto every time, then the lotto business would definitely go down and all lotto games in the world will close shop because we would all become winners.

But of course, there is no harm in trying any of these methods, who knows you might win. Pick a few strategies which you feel are logical, implement them and then wait for the results.

However, for me there is no strategy at all, somebody might just win the lotto jackpot out of sheer luck, and that is just how it is supposed to be.

There is no secret formula or the perfect way to win the lotto. As I have always said that all numbers are just as important as all other numbers.

So if your looking for the answer on how to win a lotto jackpot? The only answer would be .... try your LUCK.

Pinay maid denies stealing winning lottery ticket.

A Filipina maid in Singapore became an instant millionaire after winning SGD2.3 million (approximately P75.5 million) from a lottery in June.

The Straits Times reported that the OFW had sent some of her winnings to her two children back in the Philippines.

What the OFW did not expect is to be accused of stealing the ticket from someone else.

Last month, the report said the police had been in touch with her because someone had filed a complaint that the winning ticket had been stolen.

The OFW, who has been working as a maid for the same employer for 14 years, told the Straits Times that she bought the Singapore Sweep ticket from a Tampines outlet in June.

Although police did not tell her who filed a complaint against her, the Pinay still cooperated with them by giving her bank account details and even took them to the outlet where she bought the ticket.

Unfortunately, the security video that would have proved that she bought the ticket there had been erased.
Police confirmed to the Straits Times that there is an ongoing investigation into the complaint.
