Man Accidentally Bought Two Lotto Ticket Wins

Splitting a prize may not sound that good, perhaps most of the time, but for this one man in Canada who had to split $5 million with himself, it doesn’t really matter.

Andrew Burke, 63, will be taking the $5-million (around P250 million) prize all for himself after he accidentally bought two tickets he bet with the same set of winning numbers.

“Two people won the lottery… it just happens both of them are me,” he was quoted as saying.

Burke, who regularly buys lottery tickets in Calmar, Alberta, won the prize for the Sept. 16 lotto 6/49 draw.

When he first asked the clerk to check his ticket, the staff reportedly erupted, as they should, after the result showed that Burke won $2.5 million. (P125 Million)

He recalled in an interview with the news outlet that he was asked by the lotto franchise owner if he broke his machine, to which he answered, “‘I don’t know. What’s up, bud?”

The owner informed him that he won $2.5 million and then advised him to “check that other ticket, because that’s a winner as well” – of course, it was.

Burke, who has since broken the good news to his family, noted that all he wanted to do was to keep his home, restore his Land Rover and retire.

This story happened way back April 2016.

A rags to riches story

He can now tell his children that his life story is, literally, from rags to riches.

Too bad, though, that the wife of this vendor from Laguna province, who ekes out a living by selling rags to jeepney drivers, will never know the fortune that hit the man she left when he won the over P94-million, the jackpot prize of the Super Lotto 6/49 in its April 14, 2016 draw.

The 40-year-old father of two was the sole player who correctly guessed the winning number combination 13-20-31-41-45-46.

The winner, whose family gets by with a hand-to-mouth existence, won exactly P94,210,188.

When the winner claimed his prize at the PCSO head office in Mandaluyong City, he said that his wife left him and their children years back because she couldn’t bear living an impoverished life.

“He only earns P100 every day from selling rags to jeepney drivers.

The PCSO official noted that the winner was silent when he was asked what he would do if his wife decides to come back.

Despite his meager income, the winner over the last nine years, had kept his faith that one day he would become a millionaire through the help of the PCSO lotto.

For P20, his dream came true when he availed himself of the PCSO’s lucky pick feature, which electronically selects a combination for the player.

Now that he has joined the country’s list of instant multimillionaires, he and his children would leave the shanty they were staying in to move to the house he plans on buying with his prize.

To ensure that his family will never go back to poverty, the winner said he will build an apartment building which he would lease to tenants.

The winner wanted to secure his children’s future by investing a portion of it in a trust fund and saving the rest in the bank.

Remember:
The dream that you dare to dream, can really do come true.

Lotto Jackpot Winner Claims P339M Prize

For more than two decades, he only betted on one set combination of numbers.

His patience finally paid off, making him an overnight multi millionaire.

A senior citizen from Quezon City proved patience is indeed a virtue.

For 25 years he never wavered, always betting on the same set of numbers in the different varieties of lotto games –1-9-11-18-19-28.

Finally, on September 6, lady luck gave him his fervent wish. His alagang numero (pet numbers) was the lone winning combination in the Ultra Lotto, for a jackpot prize of P339,217,037.

The Quezon City senior, who because of regulations will remain anonymous, claimed his winnings on Thursday, October 8, at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in Mandaluyong City.

PCSO General Manager Royina Marzan-Garma was present to personally turn over the check to the winner.

Garma said the QC senior told PCSO officials that he was an avid patron of lotto games for 25 years now, always placing his bets on the same series of digits since 1995."Alagang numero ko ito," he said. (These are my pet numbers.)

The PCSO said that the winner purchased the ticket at an outlet in Quezon City ."Ngayon alam ko na kung paano ko mapapagtapos at mabibigyan ng magandang buhay at kinabukasan ang aking mga anak," he told Garma.

In accordance with the Tax Reform Acceleration and Inclusion (TRAIN) Law, a 20% percent tax was automatically deducted from the P339 million prize money.

Lucky pick or lucky numbers?

Do you think your lucky numbers are more luckier than your lucky pick to help you win big?

In reality, the percentage of winners using the lucky pick option is about the same percentage of players who use their lucky numbers.

In other words, it doesn’t really matter how you pick your numbers.

Statistically, the odds are the same that any combination of numbers will be picked. So, it doesn’t matter if you choose lucky numbers or let the machine choose for you.

Lotto aficionados always say that its really hard to win the jackpot if your bets are not that big.

The lesser tickets you  have the less chance of winning and the more lotto tickets you have the more chances of winning.

It is common knowledge that the odds are 1 against millions just to let you win the jackpot.

Remember, the more tickets you  have does not guarantee a win but gives you a percentage of edge.

However, hope still rings eternal that someone has to win either he or she has less or more tickets, right?

So  it doesn't matter if he or she has more bets than the other.

Sooner or later someone is going to win that jackpot.

The fact is, that someone will win it.

Remember: Imagination is your most powerful tool of consciousness. Use it well to help you win.
