The winner, who has yet to claim the prize, hit the winning combination of 4-23-29-32-36-43 of the Megalotto 6/45.

HANOI – A poverty-stricken 97-year-old man in Vietnam won up to $400,000 (P20 Million Pesos) in a lottery, sparking a frenzy among relatives eager to get a piece of his new-found wealth.

A neighbor in southern Ho Chi Minh City and local officials had to step in to stop the elderly man from giving away the windfall to people who had swarmed to his home.

Nguyen Van Het bought lotto tickets from the "lucky money" he received ahead of the Lunar New Year.

Small packets of "lucky money" are a traditional Tet gift.

Thanh Nien reported Het's winnings at 7.6 billion dong, or $400,000, (P20 Million Pesos) a massive sum in a country where the annual per capita income is about $1,000.

The official, who declined to be named, said local authorities had to intervene and restore order around the man's home because so many relatives or people claiming to be relatives had turned up asking for money.

Het and his sick wife had been receiving special financial support from authorities because they lived below the poverty line.

A former OFW and now a local government employee in Pagadian City, Zamboanga del Sur, who won the jackpot worth P298.7 million in the 6/55 Grand Lotto drawn on March 27, has claimed his prize.

The Jackpot winner went to the PCSO main office in Mandaluyong, three weeks after hitting the jackpot.

It took the winner almost three weeks to claim the jackpot prize due to the onset of the Holy Week simultaneous with the declaration of Metro Manila and nearby provinces to be put under Enhanced Community Quarantine by the IATF.

 

The winner said he would share his winnings with his siblings and donate to the church as well as those most affected by the COVID-19 pandemic.

Taxi Driver with 8 children wins lotto jackpot.

The saying “Basta driver, sweet lover (Drivers are sweet lovers)” seems to hold true in the case of the man who bagged the jackpot in the Dec. 20 6/42 Lotto draw. 

When he went to the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) in Pasay City to collect the check for his winnings of P40.6 million.

The 48-year-old taxi driver from Novaliches, Quezon City, admitted that he has sired eight children with four different live-in partners. 

The man revealed this information about himself as he explained to PCSO officials where he got the winning combination of 01-12-18-37-40-42. 

According to him, some of the numbers were based on the birth dates of his previous partners whom he met when they rode in his taxi cab. 

The man told PCSO officials that for the past 17 years, he had been betting on the lotto using the same number combination. 

The country’s newest millionaire, however, has promised PCSO 
officials that aside from using his money to invest in a transportation business and purchase a house and lot, he will also look for his children to fulfill his obligations to them.
