Jackpot Prize P30,980,188.80

It’s looking like a merry Christmas and a happy new year, for three lucky lotto winners who went to claim their multi-million-peso “gifts” at the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO) last Wednesday.

The three had struck the winning combination    6-10-14-17-22-26 of the Megalotto 6/45 game last Dec. 19. They each received P10,326,729.60 of the P30,980,188.80 jackpot.

The luck seemed to have come just in time, especially for the two female winners.

In a press statement, PCSO general manager Jose Ferdinand Rojas II described how one of the winners, a 36-year-old mother of two from Bulacan, burst into tears of happiness as she received her check.

She told Rojas that her family recently received a house forfeiture notice from the bank they were getting loans from, after her husband, an overseas Filipino worker in Saudi Arabia and the sole breadwinner of their family, had stopped sending them money.

While such woes did not hound the other female winner, also 36 years old, from Laguna, she said she and her husband were still struggling in the aftermath of storm “Ondoy” in 2009, so much so that they were still living in an evacuation center.

She told Rojas that apart from investing their prize money in a house and lot and their child’s education, they would also set aside a portion for church donations.

The third winner, a 41-year-old father of five and a call center agent from Sampaloc, Manila, whose six years of betting on the national sweepstakes finally saw fruit, said he would be using the money for house repairs, for his children’s education and a new car.

 Lucky Mistake .....

New Hampshire man wins $2.1 million Megabucks lottery after convenience store clerk sells him the wrong ticket.

Thinking he was buying a Lucky for Life lottery ticket, a Hillsborough, N.H. resident was mistakenly given two Megabucks tickets instead, one of which turned out to hit the $2.1 million jackpot

Thanks to an honest mistake, Christmas got a whole lot sweeter.

New Hampshire resident Scott Bennett hit the $2.1 million Tri-State Megabucks jackpot last week after purchasing what he believed was a ticket for an entirely different game.

On a whim, Bennett, 48, stopped into the Circle K convenience store in his hometown of Hillsborough, N. H., and told the clerk he wanted one ticket each for the Lucky for Life and Megabucks games.

But as fate would have it, the clerk, 42-year-old Nicki Gee, misunderstood Bennett.

“The clerk sold him two Tri State Megabucks Plus tickets," Maura McCann, New Hampshire Lottery director of marketing, told WMUR news. "He never got his Lucky For Life ticket."

After the winning numbers were revealed, Bennett’s son called to tell him that the winning ticket had been sold in the family’s neighborhood.

"I went downstairs, and he was sitting there with the ticket in one hand and the New Hampshire Lottery website on the computer, just staring at both of them," Bennett’s wife, Cathy, told WMUR. "We must have checked them about 15 times. We really truly didn't believe it."

Opting for a one-time lump payment of $1.3 million, the Bennetts say that they will use their sudden windfall to pay down student loan debt for two of their children, send their third child to college, remodel their kitchen, and maybe purchase a few extra Christmas presents.

Other than that, Scott, a property manager, and Cathy, a worker in the public school system, say that they have no intention of quitting their jobs.

"We're going to keep working," Cathy Bennett told the Union Leader. "We both love our jobs."

The Bennett’s aren’t the only one’s to be benefitting from Gee’s mistake. John Collopy, the owner of the Circle K that sold the winning ticket, will receive a $21,500 bonus, and he plans on sharing some of that with his workers, including Gee.

"Those are the kinds of mistake we like to have happen here," Collopy said.

Lottery winners not always as lucky in personal lives

CLEVELAND -- The $500 million jackpot has a lot of people dreaming, but the story of some lottery winners warn to be careful what you wish for.

Some winners' stories are good examples that money can't buy happiness, and the experts agree.
"I think Henry Ford said money doesn't change a person, it simply unmasks them," said Michael Boone, president of MWBoone & Associates.

They say money doesn't make the man. And some Lotto winners agree. Only about half of lottery winners are happier three years after hitting big, according to Michael Boone, whose Seattle firm advises big lotto winners.

So people have an opportunity to do all the things they dreamed about, sometimes those are good things and sometimes not," Boone said.

Around Christmas of 2002, Jack Whittaker, of West Virginia, had the only winning ticket i the $314 million lottery jackpot.

Two years later, his wife said that she wishes she had torn up the ticket. Their lives were in shambles.

Their 17-year-old granddaughter died after struggling with drug addiction. Whittaker himself was arrested twice for drunken driving.

Abraham Shakespeare, of Florida, was murdered after winning $31 million.

Then there's Amanda Clayton, a young mother who won $1 million in the Michigan lottery. She made headlines when she continued to collect food stamps.

She was found dead of an apparent drug overdose.
Are these winners unlucky or is there something more to it?

Psychologist Alduan Tartt says big payouts can isolate people and thrust them into a world of wealth that is foreign to them.

There's a funny thing about money and happiness that not everyone knows about.

"You win the lottery and spend a lot of money. What happens is, you get used to having a lot of money and spending a lot of money," Tartt says. "So what happens is, you actually have to spend more money to get the same level of happiness."

What about lottery winners who do end up happy?

Their secret, experts say, is that they don't lose their sense of self and they successfully separate their identity from their money.

Woman forgot $23M lottery ticket in car and claimed it just before deadline

PALMDALE, Calif. — A California woman who didn't know she had a jackpot-winning $23 million lottery ticket in her car has come forward to claim her fortune.

The Palmdale woman's daughter recognized her from a newspaper photo of the supposed winner, captured on the liquor store's surveillance camera.

More details about the woman's identity were to be announced Friday, lottery officials said.
"She just never checked the ticket," lottery spokesman Alex Traverso told the newspaper. "Her daughter took a picture of her photo in the newspaper and sent it to her mother, she went to her car and found the ticket."

Earlier this week, lottery officials had put out a public notice that the winning ticket from the May 28 drawing had not been claimed and was in danger of expiring within the month. They also released a grainy surveillance photo of a woman in a blue shirt and dark pants who was identified as the then-unknown winner.

The ticket had the correct numbers, 14, 7, 26, 31, 23 and Mega 5. If she had not turned in the ticket within the next 25 days, she would have lost the money, and the millions would have gone to California schools.

State officials used video from Michael's Market and Liquor, where the ticket was brought, to bring attention to it and try to identify her.

Store manager Ben Sadi said they have been waiting for the woman to come forward.
"We are glad to see the ticket claimed," Sadi said, adding it was sold three weeks after the store was opened.

"This is a lucky store. We have sold several other tickets with winners of $1,000 or $5,000."
Sadi said the store already has been paid its bonus of one half percent of the prize, or $115,000, for selling the winning ticket.

Since news of the winning ticket got out, business has picked up a lot.

"We are getting people driving 30-40-50 miles to come here and buy a ticket," Sadi said. "All our regular customers keep telling me to sell them the next big ticket."

Sadi said the Palmdale store is one of 23 they operate and the first to sell a ticket worth millions.

Lottery officials said the woman filed her claim on Thursday and it will take up to five weeks to issue her the first check.

A $52 million jackpot winner in Fremont was found in August by a similar public appeal.

"He and his wife saw a picture of him on the news that night and came in the next day to claim the prize," Traverso said.
In the last fiscal year, officials say more than $20.5 million in cash prizes went unclaimed.

Newspaper Dealer wins

For 17 years and a P200 bet a day, he frequented lottery outlets hoping to hit the jackpot.

On Nov. 5, 2012, he struck gold, hitting the P15,143,142.60 jackpot in the Mega Lotto 6/45 draw.

The winner is a 45-year-old newspaper dealer from Bulacan.

He has been a lotto follower since 1995 and spending P200 a day.
Patience paid off on November 5 as one of his bets worth P40 for 6/45 correctly guessed the winning combination 2-13-24-27-44-45.

 Unlucky ?

If you buy lotto tickets everyday  and you have never won up to now. Does it mean that you are unlucky?

No, of course not.

Take Lotto 6/55, for example. The odds of winning Lotto 6/55 with one ticket are approximately 1-in- 28,989,675 million. That means for every ticket that wins, there are approximately  28,989,675  tickets that lose .

In other words, for every one person that wins,  28,989,675 people lose. If all those combinations were paid by individual persons with one bet each. Does that make those  28,989,675 losers unlucky? I would say no.

The odds were just against them.

So, don't worry if you feel that you are unlucky. There are  28,989,675 other people that might feel the same way.

So never think that you are a unlucky person as you might think.

The day will come that you will hit the lotto jackpot and you will be the lucky one and the rest of  the 28,989,675  will be the  unlucky persons as they might think.

Remember always the Odds. it doesn't say  you are unlucky because you did not win the jackpot.

If the game is 50 -50  and with 10 draws, and you never won a single game, then call yourself unlucky.

Winning the lotto jackpot  might seem like a dream come true, but a windfall can cause as many problems as it solves.

Winning the jackpot could create all sorts of strains on relationships, as neighbors, friends and family comes seeking handouts  or expecting a financial gift.

But if you fail to give them  the right amount they expected from you, then expect the unexpected. After a few months, you will have few friends left and expect some enemies too.

Best 2 advice and solutions:
  1. Don't tell anyone.
  2. Don't do anything for a month or two. Just sit, think and make a very good plan for it.

Is this Divine Providence, or just pure luck?

This 22-year-old works as a clerk in an office. She is the main breadwinner of family, with seven siblings and a mother who works as a “manicurista.”

More so, the government has given them notice that their house in Quezon City slum area will be demolished soon.

In her situation, what would you do?

Try your luck, maybe, in the lotto games of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office (PCSO). And that she has been doing.

Here's her story ...

The young lass has been putting money on lotto for 10 years without luck until Oct. 22.

With her family problems weighing on her mind, she took to her bed on Oct. 21. In the wee hours of the morning, she woke up from a dream that gave her some numbers.

She quickly jotted down the numbers – 06-07-09-25-29-37 – and placed her bet on them.
The lucky bettor got the most pleasant surprise of her life when she learned that night of Oct. 22 she won P4.5 million with a P20 bet in the Mega Lotto 6/45 draw.

"I am very thankful to God for this good fortune,"

"My father died early. So, my siblings only depend on me,"

The winner said her priority is to buy a house and lot, her siblings' education, and also put up a beauty parlor for her mother.

This Article was published last April. 16, 2010.

I want to discuss once more about dreams. It has given me much interest and attention Because this might be the best way you could win the lotto. I really want you to win the lotto. There are already stories that happened and they dreamed numbers and won.

I believe that dreaming about numbers really can let you win the lotto.
Of course, you can't control the things you dream about, but if you do happen to dream about a specific number, then play it.

Try following this method. As you drift off to sleep, mentally repeat to yourself, over and over, these words: “Please give me a precognitive dream about the lotto numbers. This mantra, or wish, or prayer, is directed at programming your own unconscious mind.

Even though you may not be able to control your dreams, you can keep track of them. Sleep researchers recommend this method to help you remember your dreams: Keep paper and pencil within reach of your bed. Before you fall asleep, tell yourself that you will remember your dreams. When you wake up in the morning, try to recall the night's dreams while they're still fresh in your mind. Think about your dreams, and then write down as much as you can remember before you forget. And definitely jot down any numbers you see in your dreams.

Here are 2 lotto winners who dreamed numbers and won.

Every once in a while the news media reports on how a lotto jackpot winner claimed to have seen the winning numbers in a dream. Time magazine profiled one such dreamer in December 2005, a 43-year-old Pakistani immigrant named Ihsanullah Khan, who drove a taxi cab in Washington and saw the numbers 2,4,6,17,25 and 31 appear in one of his dreams. He played those numbers and won a $55 million lottery jackpot.

People who know Janine Cox invariably use these words to describe her: beautiful, stunning, raven haired, bright dark eyes, fair skin, eclectic, charismatic, highly intuitive and a very lucky lady. By any reasonable standard, her intuitive luck experiences have been nothing short of phenomenal.

Over a 33-day period beginning in September 1998, while working as a paralegal at a large Fort Lauderdale law firm, Janine amazed and enthralled her co-workers by repeatedly winning the 3 digits, 4 digits, and 5 digits games in the Florida state lotto. What dumbfounded Janine's co-workers even more than her success was how she accomplished her feat--each night she had dreams foretelling the next day's winning sequence of number.

I hope this gives you some ideas that our dreams are important and might help you win the lotto jackpot.

I Found a very beautiful article about faith in God. We always pray to God to help  us with our needs and problems. I know that we  lotto bettors also pray to God to let us win the lotto jackpot so we could end the financial hardship in our lives. But only God knows when he will give those Financial blessings to us.
Try to examine yourselves on why God  sometimes say's NO to us.

Why God Sometimes Says “No”

When the righteous cry for help, the Lord hears, and delivers them out of all their troubles. (Psalm 34:17)

We’ve all experienced those occasions when our prayers seem to have gone “unanswered”. Given the many comments in the Bible regarding the Lord hearing our prayers, could there really be such a thing as “unanswered prayer”? While the obvious answer is “no”, why is it that we sometimes ask but don’t receive?
In order to answer this question, let’s first be honest about what we mean by “unanswered prayer”. Basically, when we use this term, we’re not saying God didn’t answer, but rather that His answer was “no”. This leads to another important question (and one that IS answerable), “Why does God sometimes say ‘no’”? Let’s open up the Bible and look at some reasons why the Lord may deny our requests:

Lack of humility – Sometimes we feel that we know what’s best and proceed to tell God what we need. Even worse, we get angry when He doesn’t answer fast enough or in the way that we want. One of my favorite examples of humble prayer is the Syrophoenician woman whose daughter was possessed by a demon (Mark 7:24-30). Trying to help her daughter, the woman fell down at the feet of Jesus and begged for His help. Her posture alone speaks volumes about her mindset. She is approaching Jesus humbly, as a beggar. When the Lord responded to her plea with “It is not right to take the children’s bread and throw it to the dogs”, she was not fazed and replied, “Yes Lord, yet even the dogs under the table eat the children’s crumbs”. She didn’t complain, she wasn’t offended and, more importantly, she didn’t give up. Instead, she continued to ask, humbly trusting in the Lord’s ability to help. The result? Her daughter was healed. What would have happened if the woman took offense and stormed off after the Lord’s initial response?

Lack of faith – When the disciples came to Jesus and asked why they were unsuccessful in casting a demon out of a boy, the Lord’s response was blunt and to the point – “Because of your little faith” (Matthew 17:20)! When we approach Jesus with a request, do we really believe in His power? Maybe, but that can change in a hurry, especially when a sick relative for whom we’re praying starts to take a turn for the worse. How important is faith when we pray? According to Jesus, “whatever you ask for in prayer, you will receive, if you have faith” (Matthew 21:22). Does that mean that every time God doesn’t grant our request it’s because our faith is lacking? No, but it could be a contributing factor and should be addressed. Before you panic about your weak faith, however, remember that faith is a gift and you can’t increase it on your own. What you can do is ask the Lord to increase your faith, just like the father of the boy with a mute spirit, “I do believe; help my unbelief!” (Mark 9:24)

Asking for the wrong things – Let’s be honest, sometimes we pray for the wrong things. Even though it may be unintentional, we often ask for things that will increase our comfort and could harm our relationship with the Lord. That new job might pay more money and help us to better provide for our family, but it may require us to work extra hours which could cut into our family time. The increased earnings and security could also cause us to rely less on God, thinking that we are in total control of our lives. Once again, Scripture offers a clear answer to why we sometimes ask, but do not receive – You ask and you do not receive, because you ask wrongly, to spend it on your passions (James 4:3).

It may be harmful to us – Sometimes we ask for things that would be harmful to us spiritually. These seemingly “good” things could possibly cause us to lose our salvation. Even though Jesus promised that if we ask, we’ll receive, He never said that we’ll get EXACTLY what we requested. In fact, He assured us that we would not be given anything that is not good for us:

“Or what man of you, if his son asks him for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a serpent? If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” (Matthew 7:9-11)

Instead of upsetting us, Jesus’ words should cause us to rejoice and give us confidence to ask for whatever we think we need. Ultimately, we know that the Father will never provide us with something harmful, even if we unwittingly request it!

He has something better in mind – As hard as it is to admit, sometimes we just can’t see the big picture. God always knows what’s best for us and for those around us. He also has a plan for our lives and that often involves doing things that we’d rather not do. Very few people would pray for increased suffering or more crosses in their life. As human beings who have a tendency to avoid pain and suffering, that is perfectly normal. Sometimes, however, doing God’s will involves suffering and even death. I have personally prayed for the physical healing of cancer-stricken relatives who have died. Does that mean that God didn’t answer my prayers? Not at all. He simply said “no” to the physical healing because it wasn’t what was best. One of my favorite and most comforting Bible verses is Romans 8:28 –

We know that in everything God works for good with those who love Him.

Not just the good things, but EVERYTHING! Sometimes, my friends, we just have to trust that God knows more than we do. While we should never stop asking, we should be open to His answer. One of the best illustrations of this can be found by looking at Jesus’ prayer on the night before He died. Providing us with a powerful example of how we should pray for our needs, but remain open to God’s response, He used the following words:

“Father, if you are willing, remove this chalice from me; nevertheless not my will, but yours, be done.” (Luke 22:42)

It’s perfectly acceptable for you to pray that your husband is healed from cancer or that you get that new job, but always be open to God’s Will. He sees the big picture and really does know what’s best. Imitate the example given to us by Jesus and always trust in His providence.

Although it’s difficult to accept, we need to trust that God always has a reason for saying “no” to our requests. He does this out of love and because He “desires all men to be saved” (1 Timothy 2:4). Just like any loving parent, the Lord will sometimes say “no” because it really is what’s best for us. We may not get it now, but someday we’ll thank Him!

Are you sure you want to be a Lotto jackpot winner ?

6/55- 0 winner
Draw date: 10/20/2012
Expected Jackpot Prize 87 million

6/49- 0 winner
Draw date: 10/18/2012
Expected Jackpot Prize 25 million

6/42- 0 winner
Draw date: 10/18/2012
Expected Jackpot Prize 15 million

A retired male government employee from San Andres Bukid in Manila and a household helper of Paete, Laguna, shared the  Sept. 29,2012  6/42 lotto draw with  P51-million lotto jackpot.

A 40-year-old household helper from Paete, Laguna, claimed her share of the lotto jackpot last October 10, 2012.

The lotto winner and her husband only finished Grade 1 and they have five children..

The winner said she will deposit her winnings in a bank and save it for her five children's education.

Her winning combination was based on the birthdates of her children and husband. (4-9-10-15-21-23)

The woman has been relying on faith, as she started betting on the national lottery only a year ago.

She would tuck the lotto ticket in a Bible and then pray.

The retired male government employee claimed  his share last October 2,2012.

Being a lotto jackpot winner is not a dream come true to all jackpot winners.

Stories about jackpot winners who "wished they have torn up the ticket." could be now understood why they have said those statements.

Death by being a lotto winner

Amanda Clayton was not your typical millionaire. In her short life, she won a million dollar lottery in Michigan, was convicted of collecting state welfare money after she got the million dollars and embroiled in a plethora of drama and legal battles.

Now she is dead at age 25, of a possible drug overdose.
She lived a troubled life. Getting the lottery money added rocket fuel to her problems.

Like so many lottery losers, Amanda made the first big mistake when she won the lottery: She let the world know she won.

Thus, Amanda would have been better off to quietly take her winnings, but it didn't work out that way.
If you go online, you can find a happy and attractive Amanda from September of last year. She was smiling, holding a huge million dollar check from the Michigan Lottery.

Now she is in a coffin, holding a lily. For eternity. To me, the big check and lily are correlated.
Telling the world that you have money that you never expected to have is asking for trouble.
it seemed like Amanda had a ton of newfound "friends." All wanting to take advantage of her.

The food stamp and public assistance office.

According to the Detroit News, Clayton plead no contest to fraud in June after state prosecutors accused her of receiving $5500 in food and medical benefits after she won the lottery.

Millionaires are not supposed to collect food stamps. If Amanda had tried to rip off the government as a Wall Street banker, her crime would been ignored and she probably would have received a government bailout.

She got nine months probation instead. She wound up not staying alive until the end of her sentence.
It's sad to see a 25-year-old throw their life away. I'm not sure that winning the lottery was the source of her problems, but I see it happen too many times.

People who win the lottery lose perspective on normal things in life. They start to think that rules don't apply to them.

It's been said that roughly 90 percent of people who win the lottery will run through it in five years or less.

The death of a troubled Michigan lotto winner was likely the result of a drug overdose. Amanda Clayton made national headlines when she was busted for continuing to collect food stamps after winning the Michigan Lottery

Sadly, Amanda Clayton, 25, was found dead in her home in Ecorse. She died of a suspected drug overdose. What a tragic end to somebody who seemed to have recently had a reversal of fortune after winning the "Make Me Rich!" lottery.

She did get in trouble over failing to report her winnings and staying on public assistance, and she had to repay $5,500 in fraudulent benefits she received after winning the $1 million.

Clayton's official cause of death is pending toxicology reports. Police have not provided further details about the circumstances surrounding her death either.

While Amanda Clayton continuing to collect public assistance after winning such a large sum of money angered many people in America.

It is truly sad that the young woman is now dead so soon after winning the lottery. Of course, this tragedy adds some credence to the idea that winning the lottery does not necessarily make a person's life any better.

Many lottery winners end up worse off after their lucky windfall.

While surfing the net  for some lotto news. I found another unbelievable story about a lucky Norwegian Family.

First winner was the Father then the daugther and now the son.

Teenager becomes third member of his Family to win Norwegian National lottery

A teenager has become the third member of his family to hit the jackpot when he won 12.2 million kroner (£1.3million) in the Norwegian National Lottery.

The family of Tord Oksnes, 19, hit the headlines three years ago when his sister scooped an 8.2-million kroner (£880,000) bonanza.

It followed her father's good fortune three years before that when a lottery win made him 8.4 million kroner (£900,000) richer.

Roar JĆødahl, a spokesman for lottery operator Norsk Tipping, said he was amazed at the family's improbable triple triumph.

He told the newspaper Bergens Tidende: 'I remember well the story of his sister winning after her father had won before.
'With her brother now winning, I have to pinch myself in the arm.'

Over the years, the Lottery has seen some curious coincidences, he added.
'We've had occasions where people have won twice,  and different examples of couples who live together each winning.

'But this has to be unique and just goes to show that anything is possible.'

Keeping his feet firmly on the ground, Tord Oksnes said he no plans to quit his trainee position with a local energy firm in his home town of Austevoll.

He was even reluctant to take a day off to celebrate.

'I actually have a bit of a guilty conscience about winning so much money. I'm sure there's somebody who could have done with the money more than me,' he told Bergens Tidende.

Oksnes added that he had no plans to leave the family home and would continue driving his 11-year-old car for as long as it remained roadworthy.

He did however plan to invest in an apartment, which he said he would rent out for a few years until he was ready to move away from his mother.

Three in a row for 6/55

6/49- 1 winner
Draw date: 9/20/2012
11-12-17-22-23 43
Jackpot Prize  P102,728,466.00

1 lucky winner for 6/49 draw.

A lucky player from Lipa City in Batangas won the  P102,728,466.00  million jackpot of the 6/49 Super Lotto online lottery draw last Thursday. (Sept 21,2012)

40 players won the second prize worth P56,000 each after they picked five digits of the six-digit winning number combination.

The two lucky winners of  6/55 have already claimed their prizes.

The two winners split the total prize pot of P299,897,496.00, or P149,948,748.00 each

The first to claim was a tricycle driver from Bataan.

The driver bought his lotto ticket in Bataan, using a combination of his age, his wife’s age and their children’s birthdays.

The second winner, a 76-year-old female retiree from Southern Leyte paid  P120 for 6 combinations.

The winner also used her family's birthdays as the number combination for the winning bet.

Three in a row for 6/55

After the big jackpot of almost  P300 million with two winners, two more draws of 6/55 were won again by lone bettors.

Believe it or not ....... only in the Philippines.

The Grand Lotto jackpot, which had reverted back to the minimum guaranteed amount of P30 million, was won again at the following draw on Sept. 15. The solo winner a 58-year-old housewife was once again from Bataan.

The winning combination  4-11-15-17-43-45  had been her “pet” combination since she started betting in 2008.

No sooner had the dust settled when the Grand Lotto jackpot prize, still at the P30-million minimum, was won again in the next draw on September 17.

The 62-year-old solo winner was again a retiree, this time from Batangas. He had been betting since 1995, but he drew up the winning combination of 8-14-24-26-28-47  randomly.

While surfing the net, I found a interesting sad story about a lotto winner who was murdered by their Accountant friend because of  being wasteful with money.  As the saying goes, money kills.

Accountant jailed for murdering lotto winner.

A central coast accountant who murdered his lottery winning friend because she was being "wasteful" with the money has been sentenced to a maximum of 18 years in jail.

Peter Joseph Kelly, 56, had known Maria Lou Devrell and her husband David for nearly 20 years before murdering her on March 28 last year.

When Mr Devrell won $5 million in Oz Lotto in 1999, he entrusted his friend with managing the money.

But tension soon developed between Kelly and Mrs Devrell over her spending habits, with the former repeatedly warning her that her spending was unsustainable.
This tension came to a head in March last year when, during an argument at Mrs Devrell's Tamworth home, she allegedly pushed him when he refused to give her more money.

Kelly, who later told police he "saw crimson", got a heavy rubber mallet from his car, wrapped it in plastic wrapping and beat Mrs Devrell over the head.

He then used his hand to cover the woman's mouth, strangling her to death.

Mrs Devrell's young daughter found her some hours later lying in a pool of blood.

Kelly pleaded guilty five months later.

In the NSW Supreme Court today, Justice Robert Hulme said he rejected Kelly's argument that he had not intended to kill and had been provoked.

"The offender took the deceased's purse to make it look like a robbery gone wrong," he said.

"That is in keeping with a logical train of thinking, not a loss of control."

However, he accepted that Kelly's actions were an "uncharacteristic aberration in an otherwise blameless life of a good man".

Kelly stood motionless as he was sentenced to a maximum of 18 years jail with a minimum of 13 years.

He will be eligible for parole in October 2024.

Two bettors split P300 million lotto jackpot

Two lucky bettors from Leyte and Bataan won the 6/55 lotto draw (9/12/12) they will share the jackpot prize of almost P300 milion.

They will equally receive  P149,948,748.00 each.

The biggest jackpot prize in the history of the PCSO online lotto draw was more than P741 million that a balikbayan from New York won after he bought the winning ticket at a lotto outlet in Olongapo City in November 2010.

Do you want to be a millionaire?

Many people do. They dream about mansions, expensive SUV,  android cellphones,  laptops, iPhone, tablets etc.
The sad truth is that winning the lottery isn’t always what it’s cracked up to be.
One day someone is an average Juan de la cruz, and the next morning they are a millionaire.
The pressure and potential are just too much for some people.
Stories in other Countries of lotto winners going to jail, going bankrupt, broken families, drugs, etc. and regretting that they have won.

I found a very interesting story about a husband and wife lotto winners who are a unwillingly or  a reluctant lotto winners or maybe this couple just wanted to make sure about their lives that nothing bad will happen to them.

Have you ever heard of a “reluctant” millionaire? Neither have I! But while some people strive to be rich, or will die tryin’, there are two lottery winners who weren’t in such a hurry.
They actually held off collecting their millions because they were “reluctant” about being rich.

The Mega Millions numbers were drawn on Aug. 20, 2010, and there was a winning ticket sold in North Carolina. Raleigh Hill discovered he was blessed with being the owner of that winning ticket but he delayed claiming the proceeds from the million-dollar win.

He didn’t even tell his wife about it until several weeks after realizing his ticket was a winner!
So why the delayed gratification you ask?

Well, it certainly wasn’t because they were already rich. Raleigh, who bought the ticket, is a baggage handler, and his wife Erin works for the federal government.  Average everyday middle-class Americans.
Raleigh was so fearful of all “the hoopla,” that he sat on that information and kept it all to himself. And then one day, when Erin was fretting about having an awful day, he let her in on his secret.

And yet they still both decided to wait… for 6 whole months before claiming the dough. Stashing the lucrative ticket away in safe places like inside a Bible, a shoebox, an envelope and a work locker.

The Hills finally came forward , ONE DAY before the prize was to expire. They split the prize money and each received a lump sum of $340,000 (P14 million each) after taxes.

Apparently the couple was haunted by a sense of unease over the many stories they’d heard about lottery winnings destroying lives and relationships. And can you blame them?

I know you remember that story about Abraham Shakespeare….the lottery winner who was found buried in concrete?

There have been story after story about “the lottery curse” and several previous winners have wished they could give it all back.

I think the Hills were smart in waiting and investigating their options. Considering Biggie’s “More Money More Problems” theory.

It would be wise to consider all the factors prior to claiming any big win.

Don't be a bankrupt lotto jackpot winner

6/55- 0 winner
Draw date: 9/08/2012
Expected Jackpot Prize P 235 Million

6/49- 0 winner
Draw date: 9/06/2012
Expected Jackpot Prize 50 million

6/45 - 1 winner
Draw date 8/24/2012
Jackpot prize P52.2 million

A tricycle driver from Laguna won the August 24 6/45 Mega Lotto draw.
The winner used the number combination of   10-29-30-31-37-38.
The exact amount of the prize was P52, 244, 391.

6/42 - 1 winner
Draw date 8/21/2012
Jackpot prize P12.6 million

A 42-year-old  real estate agent who has been helping a group of blind beggars in his hometown in Cavite province plans to share his winnings with them as well as with his parish after hitting the P12.6-million jackpot in the Aug. 21,2012   6/42 lotto draw.

The lotto winner, who had been betting on the state lottery for the last 17 years, picked the winning combinations of  4-17-18-24-33-35 based on the birthdays of his wife and three children.

Remember  Dionie Reyes who won the Lotto 6/42 draw on April 22, 2008, who lived the life of a millionaire and spend all his winnings  for three months?

He lived in a P4-million house in a posh subdivision, drove around in a sports utility vehicle (SUV), and gave goodwill money, ranging P1,000 to P 850,000, to relatives and friends. He also gambled daily, womanized, and went on regular drinking sprees.

You don't want to be like him, would you?

The 99% of lotto bettors will tell you NO.

Don't be a bankrupt lotto jackpot winner.

After a big lotto jackpot win, planning is everything, the initial decisions you make are going to determine if the money will bring you great happiness or if you are destined to become another riches to rag story.

One reason why a lotto jackpot winner goes bankrupt because  the lotto winner have had no previous experience in handling the large amounts of money that can be won in the lotto, nor are they aware of the pitfalls of having to much money.

Some of the most common mistakes are:

 1. Failure To Manage the money

 2. Irresponsible Spending

 3. Failure to invest properly

 4.  Lifestyle choices

5.  Friends and relatives

6. Drugs and Alcohol

7. Gambling

But, like any large windfall of money, either from lotto or inheritance you need to handle your new found fortune carefully. That means have a concrete plan.

The best advice at the moment is to deposit it first in the bank.  Do not do anything until the smoke clears from your head.

6 lottery winners who did some serious good!

Every time a big jackpot rolls around, it seems people always have the same tireless conversations. If a huge pile of cash suddenly fell in your lap tomorrow, what would you spend it on?

Maybe you'd spend it on your family, make sure your kids or parents were set for life, lavish yourself and your loved ones with trips or new cars, or simply pay off all the bills and do some seriously smart investing. With that much money, charitable giving would probably be on your mind, too, and there are plenty of big jackpot winners who have actually done *gasp* really good things with their fortunes.

Colin and Chris Weir: Little acts of kindness add up big
The British couple snagged the highest jackpot in the country's history, 161 million pounds (almost $251 million in U.S. dollars). They are known for using their money to basically fund any good deed they care to, most recently buying a fancy new prosthetic limb for a young teen who had lost his leg to cancer. They have also helped a promising young Scottish tennis player get quality training, funded several athletic improvement projects and paid for the refurbishment of a historic paddle steamer.

Allen and Violet Large: 'What you never had, you never miss'
In 2010, Canadian couple Allen and Violet Large won a $11.2 million Lotto prize. Violet Large was enduring treatments for cancer, and the couple decided to give away most of their fortune to family, friends, hospitals, churches, the Red Cross, the Salvation Army and even their local fire department. Their logic was pretty simple: "What you never had, you never miss," Violet said. They truly prove that the real prize of life has nothing to do with money. "That money that we won was nothing," Allen said. "We have each other."

Anonymous donor: A fortune in a church's collection plate
The pastor at a struggling Baltimore parish got a huge surprise when he discovered a winning $30,000 lottery ticket in the collection plate one Sunday in 2011. The ticket, which had already been scratched off to reveal the prize, was left anonymously, and at first, the pastor didn't know why it had been left behind. It was only when he took it to the Maryland Lottery Headquarters that he confirmed the jackpot. The money was used to cover church expenses, and, of course, to do what churches should do best. "We have a lot of people in need,” the pastor said. “Hopefully, we can give some back, especially since this is the way we received it.”

Sheelah Ryan: A lasting legacy of helping others
When Sheelah Ryan won $55 million in 1988, the media storm rolled in, along with unsolicited investments and even marriage proposals. Ryan, however, kept a low profile, and instead started the Ryan Foundation. Her foundation provided countless charitable efforts, everything from paying overdue rent for single mothers and helping stray cats, to supporting low-cost housing projects. Ryan died in 1994, but her foundation lives on to continue charitable work in her name. "I thank God every day that I have the ability to help others, not that I won," Ryan had said of her winnings.

Les Robins: Invest in a passion
In 1993, Les Robins' $111 million payday was the highest Powerball jackpot in the country. Robins, a junior high school teacher, founded Camp Winnegator, a day camp for local Wisconsin children. The camp sits on a 226-acre plot, also bought by Robins. Camp Winnegator is still going strong, a testament that fast fortune can still add up to long-lasting kindness.

Jim Dancy: Every little bit counts
Compared to some other jackpots, Jim Dancy's $10,000 prize from 2009 seems positively paltry. But 10 grand is big money to most, and after talking to friends, the Michigan man decided to donate the whole thing to the Kalamazoo United Way. The president of the KUW called the donation "an act of incredible kindness and generosity," and Dancy said he felt good about his decision. "I know the needs in the community are great right now, so for me it was the right thing to do," he said

A lotto bettor from Tondo  and Cavite shared the lotto  Jackpot after claiming their over Php4 million pot money each in the July 23 Mega Lotto, 6/45 draw .

The first winner, a 51-year-old welder, shared the jackpot prize of Php 8,216,550 or Php4,108,275 with his co-winner from Cavite, who also claimed half of the jackpot prize.

It actually took five days before he learned he was one of the two jackpot winners, after he saw the winning numbers posted at the lotto outlet near his home where he bought a ticket for P20.

He deliberately delayed claiming the prize for several days so his neighbors won’t take notice that he had won in the lotto.

He has been betting  the lotto for 10 years.

The other lucky bettor, who hailed from Cavite province, claimed the other half of the jackpot three days after the draw.

The winning number combinations were  7-12-23-27-29-34.

A lotto bettor from  San Jose, Antique also  won the Php 15,136,385 jackpot prize in the Aug. 9  6/42 lotto draw with winning number combinations of 14-22-25-33-41-42.

Thinking of winning the  lotto jackpot in an illegal way?
I found a story on how a woman tried to claim a lotto jackpot with a fake winning lotto ticket.

An Elgin, Illinois, woman tried to cash in on the record $656 million Mega Millions lottery jackpot with a ticket she bought online eight minutes after the winning numbers were drawn.

Leandria Williams, 28, was initially charged with wire fraud for falsifying documents. She has now been charged with attempted theft and forgery..

An investigator from the Illinois Department of Lottery contacted the sheriff's office on April 4 after Williams came into the lottery claims office in Des Plaines and said she had a winning ticket for the Mega Millions jackpot drawn on March 30,

The ticket bore the winning numbers, but records showed only three Mega Millions winners and none of those tickets were from the Chicago area.

Lottery logs showed Williams' ticket was produced shortly after 10 p.m. on March 30, eight minutes after the winning numbers were drawn. Williams also produced an email receipt that was altered.
Lottery officials told Williams she had to complete a claim form that would be sent to Springfield for verification.

Williams filled out the form and submitted her fraudulent documents.
Lottery officials and police met with Williams on April 16 and she was arrested. Officials said today that Williams' scam was the first of its kind in Illinois.
